New to the site and BMW

Hey guys, I'm in college and I've recently been looking into buying a car. I currently drive a Camry and I'm really tired of it. Camrys seem to run in my family . I have wanted a BMW pretty much my whole life and I feel as though now would be a good time to get the car of my dreams. I'm looking for something speedy and comfortable but also reliable. Thanks! please shout out some suggestions and let me know why!

Well you can get a high mileage m3 or a nice ZHP sedan. Try going for 04 and up. 04 seems to be the year the BMW got the E46 right.

Ya, I was looking for maybe an M3 but they're obviously not as easy to find. Ya i can't really decide at the moment between a Coupe or Sedan.

Why do you say 04? What did they really do differently compared to the 02 and 03 model?

Pre-facelift (99-03) Facelift (04-06) Different front end look, that's about it other than the LED taillights it comes with from factory than you can add to any E46.. I would either go for 04-06 coupe, Non-ZHP or ZHP, ZHP Sedan or an M3 with really high miles..Welcome aboard!

Ya. So M3 with high miles? And do what? Rebuild the engine?

Nah just keep maintaining it. Most m3 owners are pretty meticulous about maintenance so any M3 with high miles should be fine. Just have it inspected if u do go down that route

oh alright sweet! Would a new radiator be a wise investment with the purchase of a car?

Wait until you have that car and see what it needs before buying parts. But a new radiator would along with the rest on the cooling system. Search the D.I.Y section of the forum

What I recently did was flush out the entire Cooling system with brand new parts (@100k miles).. its great for the car.. keep up with oil changes and maintenance and you should be fine.

Ya that's a good idea, I think I'll do that at 100K I've pretty much decided I'm going to look for a 2004 or 2005 330i ZHP.
