Bluetooth/phone module

The bluetooth/phone module in my 2007 320i has died, or in the words of the service department, "Internal failure of telephone module, estimated repair cost $1800."

So, dear BMW people ... is it possible to have this repaired or a replacement module purchased as $1800 is just not going to happen.

I'm in Newcastle, NSW.

Hey mate

Is your car an E46? Can't tell from what you've posted.

And what part failed? Part number would be useful... if it is just the TCU or the BT module, it should be easy enough to replace with a used unit. Try the forum classifieds or ebay once you have the part number... And, try the Aus section as from time to time members there have had units for sale.

Yes, sorry, E46. 8/2006. I'm not sure which part but I've emailed the dealership and asked for more information so I can buy a replacement elsewhere. I'm off to the Aus section for a look!

I believe here in the US you can purchase a new one for about $500 USD from the dealer?

Might be worth also spending $32 USD for BMW Scanner 1.4.0 from www.xcar360.com so you can check codes and change settings in needed.
