04 330Ci Tire Fitment Question

Hey guys,

I'm currently running 225-40-18 in the front and 255-35-18 in the rear. I wanted to get a set of winter tires but I'm not finding any that are as wide as my rears. I'm the 225-40-18's are easy to find but I'm not getting any luck with the rears.

I was wondering if any of you had insight on my possible solution: I was thinking of getting 245-40-18 for the rear instead. My rear wheels are roughly 9.5 inches wide (if my facts are correct) which would mean that a width of 245 mm's would still fit. Now, the other concern is that this tire would have more rubber (40% of 245 is 98). That is a total of 16 mm's (.63 inches) more than my current tires.

I'm pretty much an amateur at my stuff so I'm hoping if I did a calculation wrong that you guys will point it out. Overall, I'm worried about the rear tire fitment even though it looks to me that I have about an inch of wheel gap.. Please just let me know what you guys think.

Thanks a lot I really appreciate it!

I'm running 245/40/18's all around on 18x7.5 all around so you should not have problems with them being to wide for 9.5's

Finally someone with valuable input.. Thanks man, I'm worried about the height though bc I'd be cutting it close. Probably gonna scratch the winter tires and just get all-seasons for the winter and such (much easier to find wider sizes). I have Potenza summer tires on now and I'm scared of what the winter will do to them.. Thanks again!

I would be less worried what winter will do to your current tires and more worried if you make it out of your driveway, and if you do manage getting that far, staying on the road.

By height do you mean sidewall size? If your car is crazy slammed it could be an issue, but stock height or even a mild drop should be fine.

i know you probably hate the wheels (came on the car and i will probably replace this coming summer), but that point aside you can get an idea of how the sidewall fills the wheel wells
