I have my screen on full brightness, I think timeout is like 2-3 minutes? My battery dies pretty quickly - but I send Facebook messages for 5-8 hours a day

edit: up to 12 hours a day I guess

It's closer than you think, but still a few months off. Some exploits have been found, but it's unstable at this point.

Battery life is extremely dependant on usage. It varies so much from person to person its hard to compare. My phones screen is on 4+ hours a day and 2-3 hours talk per day. With GPS nav and browsing and streaming it gets used.

When I tried the iPhone it was begging for the charger by lunch. Unacceptable. I ended up with the 3300mah RAZR MAXX HD.

I don't mind the iPad, but sheesh, a LTE phone with a 1400mah battery....math.

You only get like 1 hour more of surf time with the MAXX....

The iPhone 5 has a more efficient LTE radio than any other phone on the market from what I know. Not that it equals the MAXX, but it is one of the strongest phones that doesn't make battery life a point.

I don't turn off my LTE, its on 100% of the time even if I don't get LTE in the area.

From real-world tests, the iphone 5 was roughly on par with the Maxx, and I believe it matched it in battery life.

It's not just the size of the battery, but also how efficient the chip and radios are.

My iphone 5 gets me well over a day. I am avergaging 1.5 days on standby now with 8-10 hours of usage. Don't need anything more as I just need it to get me to bedtime when I can plug in.

With the 5, I even skip charging at night some days and still have enough to continue the next morning/afternoon.

I will send a message, and it shows in blue like everything is fine. Then 5 minutes later, it changes green.

Hope I'm not being charged texting fees.

I don't understand how people wouldn't have messaging on their plan. It's about 5 dollars a month and about half the people I text don't have iPhones anyway.

So what gives?

It's $5/month for 200 message on Verizon. Poor deal imo unless you have no friends.

With all the free alternatives out there (kakao, whatsapp, Google Voice, etc.) I don't see the point in paying your carrier for something that should be free.

And iMessage is EXCELLENT when it works. I love to be able to switch from my computer and my phone, and have everything sync up. Also, free MMS and videos is excellent.

Really, carrier messaging is a dated concept. $0.20 per message means almost $0.20 profit for the carrier for doing nearly nothing.
