But it's been sitting in my kitchen for 5 months, and who knows how long it's been sitting in the store. According to snobs here, I should just toss it away... But it cost a lot. Can somebody find out how much that is? Last edited by Master Po; 11-15-2012 at 09:14 AM. |

If you're willing to put in the work, you should return your machine and make coffee by using a french press (not my favorite, but people like it) or pour over (my personal choice) method. Then you would have one less machine to worry about.

Modern dip coffee makers don't hold up anyway.
I went through 5 different machines in 6 months before I gave up and went French Press. Modern drip machines all seem to like taking sh!ts.

Yes...I do think I hate you

For an easy bean for iced coffee fix I get some Starbucks Pikes Place and have them grind it for my drip maker.
a few times a year, I have family send a few pounds of Kona Coffee from some of the smaller producers in Hawaii.

A buddy of mine is the President of a coffee company based in California. Some of THE BEST coffee that I have ever tasted. Comes in whole bean and you have to grind it. The price is somewhat comparable to Starbucks whole bean stuff but 10x better, FACT! Anyways, they roast all of the coffee beans themselves and offer several options: Kenyan, Columbian, Hawaiian, etc. including some specialty blends. Their cappuccino is also the best I have ever had. If anyone is interested you can go to the website: buymugscoffee.com
Email the president, Chris Peterson and let him know that I sent you his way. He may give you a deal on the first bag... Because after that you won't go back to anything else. I promise you that! |

It's been a while since I bought whole bean coffee... but when I did I would seek coffee houses or specialty food shops. They would usually carry a great Ethiopian bean that has a really great, smooth nutty flavor. Thinking about it now, I think I will seek some out and give the Keurig a rest for a while.

I hear ya on the dark roast; lots of people prefer the lighter blends.
My wife and I always have liked the richer Italian/espresso roasts. I'm reminded of a line, attributed to Abraham Lincoln (whether he really said it I have no idea), after he was handed a particularly weak cup of coffee: "Madam, if this is tea, please bring me some coffee. If this is coffee, bring me some tea."

This thread reminds me of this video,
Personally I'm just going to pick up a snazzy nespresso machine and call it a day, my sweet tooth loves the lattes those things can make, and so I hear the overall quality from nespresso is quite good.
