I have almost every tool known to man, and a lot of ones popular with primates too. I've been a professional mechanic since 1997. I have or have made a lot of bmw special tools, cab puller, rear wheel bearing puller/installer, many different size drivers for various suspension bushings. I really specialize in the e30,e28, and e24 but since my wife owns an e46 and my father has an e38 i've had to become proficient at working them too. For anything that needs computer diagnostics I have a friend down the street that has a chinese copy of the gt1 software. I have an obdII scanner but it doesn't really help me on the german stuff. I am a tractor trailer mechanic by trade and working on cars is my hobby. Sometimes I wish i had become a bmw mechanic but i'm glad i stuck with tractor trailers as i have never been out of a job and ended up purchasing the company i worked for after eight years of working there. Anyone in the delaware area? I'm always willing to help out or even drop by if your close enough.

There's just so much to cover; it'd take a long time to write such a guide. I've written a couple guides that were much narrower in focus, and even those took quite a bit of time to write. Generally when one writes a set of instructions, one has to consider the steps where mistakes are made, where differences in configurations can lead to different instructions, and one also has to "translate" the information to a level that someone less skilled with computers can understand. Basically, a comprehensive guide is the kind of work that many people get paid good money for. There are some decent instructions online, but you've got to put two and two together - that's the best you'll get for free. |

I have the PASoft Scanner 1.4. Hey Chris, I am in Clemson. Would it be OK for me to contact you if I need to for reprogramming stuff? Of course I will return the favor!
I have VAG COM too, works on B5 VW/Audi platform. Last edited by scarede46er; 09-29-2012 at 03:12 PM. Reason: VAG |

I'm in SoCal. I have PASoft on a laptop and I'm in Camarillo which is on the 101 in Ventura County.
I'm very busy but if you PM me in advance you can stop by and use it. I have both connectors because mine's a 1999 so I can read anybody's. Don't expect to get much info out of me on coding stuff - be prepared ahead of time because I haven't worked much with it - just scanning and clearing codes. I haven't reprogrammed much. And I may not even be able to hang around while you scan your car because I have 4 kids. Schlag |
