do you use the auto function on your climate control? if so, it uses the AC constantly to remove moisture from the cabin

My e30 318 had a HUGE power difference when the ac was on and actually working. Drove around for a year with the ac working and the belts on. Felt normal. For the ac fixed. Only thing that had changed was the ac now worked. Belt was always on. As soon as it blew cold the car was so much slower.
On underpowered engines like that it is noticeable.
I don't notice it on any other car I drive.

A/C is for pvssys, delete the whole system. Then sell it, and more moneys for modding! WIN WIN WIN

People without AC have no girlfriends.
Its worse than getting trapped in a turkish pirson or a pigeon coop, sweating like a slave.

Anyone knows how much the AC system weighs?

If you are using your AC to get laid. LOSING! The system is around 70lbs give or take

The clutch is just freewheeling so you won't feel anything. Honda guys like to remove their powersteering and AC and say it does something.

I'd like to delete the power steering as well. It's not really needed.

Why not delete the body and drive around with just the frame .
You ruined a perfectly good xi.

Perfection, is subjective. The body hides all the stuff I didn't tell.

Mine does not seem to, I have to have the AC button on. Weird.

Really? My 71 Z has no PS and it has a better turning ratio than your bimmer and its still a pain in the ass. Im not sure if you would appreciate no PS on a hydrolic rack and pinion honestly...

I used to yank the fuse to the A/C mag clutch on my junk hauler, Dodge pickup in the winter. The thing would cycle on and off and be annoying whenever defrost was selected. It was less load not running the compressor, less annoying warming up and basically didn't affect how well the windshield was defrosted. If the cabin started fogging up, blasting "wet" air still worked to clear the stupid thing. I think A/C blending with heated air to "dry" the air flow is plausible but old-school cars worked fine without this luxury. It's good practice to run the thing every now and then to keep the seals sealed or whatever but I ignored that 4 months out of the year and never had an issue.

If it's all about performance, speed holes drilled into the body is the ticket. Use a 5" hole saw for best results.

I really don't mind, I prefer a car with no abs or ps. It's just not that important, I'd be more concerned if I have any ear plugs in the car and/or my shuffle is charged.

Just think about all the weight to be saved in deleting the bumper inserts. Or gutted doors, cutting all the old hardware mounts.. been there. Then you have all the wiring... zomg like 60lbs in wire!
