Looking at picking up a new daily. I don't care for quartz, but for an inexpensive watch I don't mind.

Either a Seiko Solar Chronograph - black face, brown strap or a Tissot PRC 200. Was never really a follower of Tissot but this watch has caught my eye.

Orient Power Reserve < 200$

CEX0R001D

CEX0R001W

Bit more expensive, just under 500$

Anyone heard of 88 Rue Du Rhone? I've never heard of them before today. There are 2 watches that I am looking at from them, but I am looking for reviews before I buy.

Okay aficionados, what do you think of this Guess Automatic? It's priced at $225, but I can get 15-50% off due to being a Guess Club member.

It's either this or the Movado Bold.

Definitely no to both..I'd stay away from all fashion watches. They're not worth anything over $100 and even that's pushing it. Not a fan of Movado either.

I'm not a fan of Omega styling at all aside from the De Ville Co-Axial Rattrapante, and at $12k+ the cost alone rules it out. I'm not THAT BIG of a watch fan to spend anything close to that amount on a watch. It's not something that I can justify.

I like Movado styling because of the relative simplicity. 90% of the watches on the market are too busy for my tastes. You are probably right about fashion watches. It's for that reason that I chose only to consider the automatic.

Not a fan of those watches you posted. Like BruceWonder said, I'd save for an Omega. However, if those are the watches that you really like, I'd also say go for it. If it makes you happy, that's all that matters. Bottom line is, if you like the watch and you think it's worth it, then go for it.

Hamilton would probably be your best bang for your buck.

Omegas are out of the question for the reason(s) listed above. I think the problem is that I'm "forcing" a watch on myself just because I want to buy a watch, and I'm getting a killer hook-up at Macy's. I should probably just opt not to buy one, but damn these sales.

Unfortunately most of the Hamilton's don't appeal to me either, but the X-Patrol Automatic looks really nice (..and it's in a price range that I'm willing to consider). I'll check it out.

edit:

Nevermind, it's only 42mm. It's going to look too small on my wrist. I need at least a 44mm.

If you really "have" to buy a watch now, go for the Guess. I think for the money, it will satisfy that itch that you have. If you can get it for $150 or so, it will be worth it. A year from now, you wouldn't even remember that $150 that you spent.

vote no on both, i do like the choices griff made both the seiko5 and the homage watch, otherwise that citizen posted early was a nice find around 200$.

look at hamiltons for a cheap clean looking watch. They are better watches then the ones u listed. i only gave the advice as i though you love watches. I first started off with a movado to an omega, then it escalated quite quickly from there. Buy once buy right as with these lower brands you cant sell them back without taking a hugh hit. Check hamilton out!!!

I have a daily beater for work, so I'm good there (..and it's a G-Shock as well). It once took a baton strike and didn't bat a digital eye. G-Shock FTW!

Do they make the Hamiltons in anything larger than a 42mm? That's what is killing it for me.

If it has to be Macy's i'd go with a Baume & Mercier. They have some good clean watches at reasonable prices.

No offense to homage wearers, but I would stay as far away from them as I would replicas...

What's a homage wearer?
