When your with another forum member and both you see a modded E46 so you run out into the middle of the street to ask if he's on the forum.

1. when you flash other e46s out on the road, and hope to God for a flash back.
2. When a single rattle pisses the living **** out of you.
3. when you only park next to another BMW (but the ones you know people who care about their car are driving), or you dont park next to anyone, at the end of the lot.
4. When you deviate from your route to play with another e46 on the road
5. when you get in another car and complain to the driver about how the window switches arent in the center console
6. when you know what a "golf-tee" mod is
7. when people always ask about your "clown-nose"
8. And when, 130000 miles later, you love every bit of your car just as much as when it was new

You do not consider an e9x or f30 to be an upgrade.

When the web browser on your phone has four pages open, and they're all related to doing something on your E46.

-1. This is subjective. I can't afford a new car nor do I want one, I call myself a fanatic because I love this car.

that's just one of the ways of becoming an e46fanatic.
It is not an attribute of all e46fanatics

see the difference?

Not really. The context I read this in says "you can't afford a new BMW, so you buy an older one just to say you drive a BMW"

If I've got it wrong, please... Explain.

When you car shop and drive the new Audis, e9Xs,, F30s, Mercs etc almost buy one and you tell the dealer I need to go home and think about it and when you are driving your e46 back you feel so at home and decide f*&k the new cars, my e46 is much better and I love it and I am keeping it and not buying a new car.

You have been away from home for weeks, and after getting back, the very first thing you do is take the E46 out on a drive.

Or

Look at the miles / km + mods rack up and think ..... That is money well spent
