Benched today to see what I could do my sets went like this:
135X15
135x15
225x12
225x12
255x9
255x8
275x6 (slight finger pull spot at the top on last rep).
I was pretty happy with it given that I have just been doing db's for a long time. I weighed myself before @ 187 lbs.

You could rep 300 at least once right now!

you should be able to get 315 right now for sets of 3 if you can do sets of 275 at 6.

I will definitely try next chest day! I've never benched more than 300 for my 1rm when I was benching all the time. I did it once, and it was a huge psychological game for me... 295: no problem. 300: fvvvvvvck

There is no point in piddlying around with the weight that doesn't differ much. You're not going to gain any ground if you're not pushing yourself.

Here's an example of my bench scheme from last week (..I increase my "heavy" set weight by 5 lbs. every week):
  • 135 lbs. (2 x 10 reps....warmup)
  • 225 lbs. (2 x 10...light/moderate work set)
  • 335 lbs. (2 x 5 reps....heavy)
  • 275 lbs. (2 x 10 reps....moderate)

My previous 1RM in '07 was 345 lbs. Today I can probably put up 360 lbs. for one rep. I'm shooting for a 405 1RM! I weigh 185 lbs.
I was spot on! I put up 360 lbs. once last week. No shoulder issues whatever. God bless rotator cuff rehab.

On another note, I lost 2 pounds. I'm down to 184 lbs. due to being sick. FML!

Currently 145lbs, 3 sets of 10 and a drop set afterward. I'm 160 in weight and 5'9". Obviously nothing worth bragging about but what do you guys think? Is that decent for my weight and height?

It is more than the average Joe but not worth walking around like you're son of Hercules. Keep lifting and watch it go up.

I do 5 sets.....2 moderate work sets, 1 heavy (...3-5 reps), 1 light-heavy, 1 moderate. Every week I increase the weight of my heavy/power set by 5 lbs. That's how I reach my numbers. It works for me, but your mileage may vary. Try it though. 360 is the most I've ever benched in my life, so I'm proud of it.....

....and I'm an old bastard about to turn 34!

I'm reaching for 405!!! Lofty? Yes...but I'm going to push for it. Maybe I can realistically reach that number by June/July.
