Dave was a talented musician and activist for civil rights. A lot of people don't know about his involvement in the civil rights movement during the war.

I got the opportunity to meet him back when I was in college. Dave was a cool dude, very laid back. His stories were hilarious too. In music he was one of the cats that changed things up. DYK he could not read music when he was in college? He told my friends and I this funny story of why he didn't get into the music fraternity. HILARIOUS
