Non-sweat undershirts for cold climates?

Wondering if anyone has any experience with non-sweat undershirts (under dress shirts+coats) that work well in cold climates?

I tend to sweat when I'm excessively cold and all my undershirts are for SoCal type weather.

Going to be in Japan for 3 weeks in Dec./Jan. and last time I went it was very cold, and I got sweaty a lot for some reason.

I hate to do this since they are a competitor of mine, but you can buy "compression" tops from Go Athletics for pretty cheap. I bought one to test out the competition and I wouldn't really call it a compression shirt, but they are a nice spandexy undershirt for pretty damn cheap.

I have a black one, but the white would work perfect as an undershirt.

some sweat wicking layer system from one of the adventure sport companies?

if it's just from the underarms, certaindri has done wonders for many people... not me... but many people.

If you wear a wicking undershirt it'll just make your cotton button up or polo get sweaty faster.

It sounds like maybe you were dressed too warmly? Common sense stuff but take your jacket and whatever else off as soon as you get into a warmer area.

1 - I've worn a Nordstrom house brand crew undershirt that's mostly cotton with like 5% spandex for years under suit/tie/shirt and it's been very comfortable.

2 - I was in Japan for Jan/Feb and didn't find it as cold as everyone warned me it would be. However, that was coming from SoCal. It was cold by SoCal standards, but I spent part of my childhood in Chicago and it was not cold by IL standards. I found the subways and the insides of buildings warm. So the trick for me was to dress in normal mid-weight (SoCal) suits with normal undershirts for inside, and then have overcoat, scarf, gloves and umbrella for outside.

Your body is confused.

Patagonia Capilene 1 is lightweight and gets the sweat off you so you stay warmer.

any undershirt with ~10% poly/spandex should work well and dry out faster. i think the kohl's brand actually have some % of polyester in them. or just go european and forget the undershirt/deodorant and embrace your BO like a boss.

You need to wear layers.

Don't wear a thick wool sweater and a t shirt.

Wear a t shirt, a thermal t shirt (Under Armor ?), shirt, coat.

And then you can open a button if you get warm.

If you are going to spend a lot of time outdoors, wear a scarf, it does wonders to keep you warm and half of your body heat is lost through your head, so wear a warm hat.

Wear gloves and if it is too cold, get some of those chemical hand warmers that you find in Home depot and outdoor stores. They might help.

Make sure you change your socks and t shirt every day. Clean clothes will keep you warmer than dirty ones.
