I'm trying to find a way to do weighted dips & pullups without a belt, because my usual gym doesn't have one (on dat poverty time)

They're only about $20-30 here. Could go buy your own to take with you. Or hold a dumbbell between your feet. That'd get pretty hard with heavier weight tho

Don't get a belt, get a weighted vest. That's what I use.
You can use it for other exercises. Safer and easier to work with. Don't drink over a weekend, spend the $$ on a vest. |

Safer? What's unsafe about a weight belt?

I vote a belt. Easier to add more weight when the vest would otherwise top out too

What are you talking about? Weights don't bounce around on a belt? Have you even used one before?

yea they're dead weight. They just hang there. Physics by definition would make it more difficult for them to bounce since their sole purpose is to weight something and have gravity pull it down lol

I used to cross my legs at my knees, bend them, and hold a dumbbell at the crux it creates. Worked like a charm until I got to around 30-35 pounds at which point it started to hurt like a b*tch

That's what I've been doing, I hold a dumbell near the bottom of my thighs. Tried 45lbs a couple times and wasn't too bad, but I'm going to look at getting a belt soon

...set a dumbbell on the ground on one end. Grab it with your feet right under the weighted end closest to you. Pull! Problem solved! That's how I did them before I began using a weight belt. I don't bend my knees when I pull up. I did it that way with dips too. The dip bars were high enough off of the ground that the dumbbell didn't touch the ground. I don't bend my knees during dips unless I have to because of clearance issues.
