24 years military, retirement check, disability pay, plus 10 % of gross income invested over 24 years puts me at about 5800.00 a month. Fully retired at 43. Good enough for me! But it came at a price!

This is true, but I look at it as just raising the bar to the next level to keep myself motivated.

The business somewhat runs itself when you hire the right people. I enjoy my IT job, keeps my mind fresh. If it gets the point that I have to put more time in ND then I will step away from it.

Agreed, seven 12's is painful. Sounds like prison to me. But....it's not like you do that all month long. Probably 7 on 4 off or 7 on 7 off, I have lots of friends that do that in the oil industry up here. So it's not like you're bringing in $3100 x 4 each month. But still, you're doing ok. Nice work.

LOL... This is exactly why you can never tell how much money someone has by the car(s) they drive.

Personally, I'd rather have 10k in the bank and drive a Honda.

To each their own. I personally wouldn't deal with the hours/travel for your job for twice the money. It's just not a lifestyle I want to live. I probably wouldn't have minded at your age though.
