99 323i P1182 code help??

I had P1182 code come on and i would reset it
and it would come on after 10min of driving...
I found that i could be o2sensor or maf.
so i cleaned my maf. Reset it took it for ride and and it and it came back
on after an hour.... So do yoy guys think its a bad maf.
or i should still do the o2 first??
Thanks...

Not sure I would replace any sensors yet.

Read the first 2 links below in my signature first.

P1182 O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Open Circuit During Coast Down Fuel Cut-off
P1183 O2 Sensor (Bank 2 Sensor 2) Open Circuit During Coast Down Fuel Cut-off

I cannot see the MAF as part of the problem for these codes. They are for Sensor 2, which is the After CAT sensor. The O2 Sensor costs $100-ish, the MAF (which is not part of your symptom set) runs about $300. You decide.

I have been chasing the P1181 and P1182 codes for awhile now. These are the pre-cat O2 sensor fuel trim fault codes. I have replaced the uppper and lower intake boots (both had tears), ccv and 4 hoses (all looked fine but i know it is a common cause for these codes), Vanos Oil Line (it was leaking badly), and the valve cover gasket (because I have an oil leak), but the codes kept coming back within minutes of driving. I finally took it to a mechanic and he stuck on a new MAF and the codes stayed off. So I bought the MAF for $240. However after 4 days of driving P1182 came back all by itself without P1181. I'm thinking that I should just go ahead and replace the pre-cat O2 sensors. Anyone other ideas?

Did you clean the idle control valve and the throttle body while you had the lower intake boot off?

I cleaned the throttle body and disa but not the iac valve. But why would this cause p1182 and not p1181 also? For more than 6 months I have had both codes and after changing the maf, now I only have p1182.

These are the code description from the Bentley manual.
They are post-cat sensors not the pre-cat.

O2 Sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Open Circuit During Coast Down Fuel Cut-off
O2 Sensor Signal Circuit Slow Switching From Rich to Lean (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

If you want to do proper diagnosis of O2 sensors, look at this.
My bet is bad post-cat o2 sensors based on age of our cars if they are not replaced before.

I'm confusing myself. I had been chasing P1188 and P1189 until I replaced my MAF. Now I have P1182 which is new since replacing the MAF. Sensor 2 is the post-cat O2 sensors? Did you replace both or just bank 1? Is bank 1 the closest to the cat?

Unplug maf and drive for a few minutes, see if you get a different code?
