I've just installed it. And it works.
I still like Apples presentation/GUI better. More intuitive and user friendly. But Google's are accurate.

Huh? There is voice turn by turn.

Google maps probably won't download because it's getting slammed hard. I was able to DL fine however.

Similar to the OTA updates for Android devices, they're batching the downloads to prevent server overload.

I meant no voice search.

We know how google voice search works much better than Siri but so far it's not added

btw, got an aftermarket ligthning cable and universal usb car charger for $10 and it works great.if anyone cares. haha

been using it for a couple weeks and its been great. phone doesnt get hot. nothing out of the ordinary and the quality of the cable looks on par with the oem cable. it was $7ish total i think

I'm confused as to why the new app is so different though

shouldn't it be tied into the same database as the old Google maps/android version? Why the lack of data now?

Edit - I just checked that same San Francisco area on my phone. You just need to zoom in more to see more detail. I think it's the same app.

ya.... I don't see any difference between the old app and new app besides google earth is integrated in.... Anyone find out how to use 3D view on it? I can't figure it out...

edit: nevermind it's not integrated, just sends you to the earth app... 3D anyone?

Bang your phone against a wall repeatedly and eventually the 3D Google map will fall out.

The new maps program, from what I've read, is equally as detailed as the old one and will provide even better navigation capabilities... the difference is that the main screen doesn't provide you with smaller street names as to give a less cluttered interface. I prefer it.
