Sunny 16
I think most people here understand the relationship between ISO, shutter and aperture settings. With that in mind, Sunny 16 says that on a sunny day you can set your aperture to f/16 and the correct shutter speed is the inverse of your ISO.
So let's say you're using digital ISO or film @ 100. Your shutter speed should be 1/100 sec (or 1/125 if your camera doesn't have 1/100). Great, but what if you don't want to shoot at f/16 or 1/100 sec? Change your setting, but adjust your other settings accordingly. If you want f/4 (4 stops) for nice DOF, then change your shutter speed 4 stops to 1/1600 sec. If you are using ISO 400, then your base shutter speed is 1/400 sec and you can adjust from there. If it's slightly overcast, then f/11 is your base aperture and you can adjust from there. Sunny 16 just gets everything into the same playing field. The more you shoot, especially if you typically use the same speed film and have a favorite aperture range, then you get to know settings that suit various conditions. EDIT: dammit Don, don't edit your post while I'm composing

I hate it when that happens. You came up with 1/800th of a second. Did I somehow do my math wrong when coming up with 1/2000th? It's been a while since I've done EV conversions, so I want to make sure that I'm not overlooking something.

1/800? I have no idea what you're talking about
You based the math on the 1/125th approximation and I used 1/100th. 1/1600th and 1/2000th are close enough. It's not an exact measure.

You're right. Where did I come up with 1/800th? Did you do a ninja edit or something?

^ how long has it been expired, and was it refrigerated? What usually happens, in my experience at least, is tue colors aren't as predictable if you're used to knowing what to expect from that particular film, and contrast might be a little muddy. I haven't checked the link, as I'm on my phone typing this, but if the price is low enough and the film was priperly stored it might be worth the experiment.

'03!? I think that's a little far out to mess with. 8-9 years after expiration is REALLY old film. Invest the $40 towards bulk film reloading kit instead. I'm not sure how much the canisters cost nowadays, but I picked up a decent kit with bulk loader, 35 mm reusable film containers and 100' of film for $60. This was also back in the day when film was still king, so you might be able to get a decent kit for less now. bulk film saved me a ton of money back in the day.

First time shooting/developing Ektar 100. I'm pretty stoked on it. There's barely any grain and it has a nice warm feeling to it.

Just bought a Pentax 645 with 75 2.8 and a 120 film back. Cant wait to start shooting with it. Ive always loved the look of medium format film and I hope to incorporate it into my paid shoots
