Bodyweight Exercises : Progression

You know what, I'm working tris tonight. I think I might see how many consecutive pushups I can get. Maybe we could have a little competition?

Yes. I could do two sets of 50 and could likely (I can try if you'd like) do 100 straight. But at 6'3 160 pounds, I have a feeling it's far easier me than most.

And I'm not saying bodyweight exercise is bad.. it's just not going to help me with my personal goals (I do weighted dips, pullsup and find them extremely helpful)

I was thinking it meant 100 in a row. 50 is awesome and very impressive for someone with you arm length, but 100 is an entirely different proposition.

If you can get 100 my jaw will be on the floor.

since this is the internet I'm going to assume Chase is lying until I see video evidence lol.

I just did 100 straight in my office. At about 80 they were becoming really difficult, last 8 were tough.

No military. I did not video.But these types of exercises are basically what I have been doing for the last few months. So I am conditioned to do pushups. I do wide, slow, diamond, snake, clap.

how the hell are you guys doing that many straight lol.

Nice! A lot of the people that I know with insane pushup numbers were in the military at some point.

I'll try tonight and post video. I did bench/tris last night so this may be a tough proposition.

He used to do 200 curls with light dumbells, I'll give him more benefit of the doubt than Chase.

But I'm skeptical on both until I see video of form.

Got home and went right into it.. and this is with doing chest and tris yesterday... 63 with no lead up and crappy eating all day

Yeah I think we are discussing legit pushups where your nose / chest hits the ground at a moderate pace, I know personally I can get about 30-35 of those and I'm decently happy with that so far

Ok, then bring your arms 90 degrees, that measurement is independent of chest size.

once you go past parallel your chest actually gets worked, otherwise its just arms...

That's fair... but if I do them way down there, people will say I'm not fully extending.. I know how haters on this forum work

Regardless, I'll give myself 20 minutes or so and then do it again with that... and get to 50 again regardless

The sad truth is i could get to 200 and there are some on here who would still hate for reasons uknown.
