Damn I just finished the finale. I honestly had no idea what was going to happen until it did, which is why this show is awesome. Everyone on the run next season? I hope so.

I am a huge Dexter fan. That was horrible. The show is following the path of Nip/tuck. Epic beginnings to gradual ridiculousness to complete not giving a sh1t (e36/e46 switch). Season had so much potential to waste.

Suspended disbelief....it's a tv show. Let's try not to be too critical and just enjoy it for what it is

I will agree with you however. The mistakes that you pointed out were just flat out lazy. For the majority of viewers the e46/e36 switch will never be noticed, as well as not putting a second thought to the remainder of your list more than just being ok with it for what it is....a "well I guess that could happen" mentality b/c they just don't know any better.

Try and understand the editing and production process:

Writers provide the director with a script (realistic or not. Try and accept a collect call on a cell phone). The script is storyboarded. One of the storyboards shows a wrecked vehicle.

Producers and directors have to work under a budget... They're NOT going to trash a working car. They are going to scout junk yards for a similar model, paint it appropriately, and use it for the two second shot needed to bring the point home. There are entire industries on the Shaky Side based on providing directors with props, cars, food packages, dress, and other flotsam and jetsam from an appropriate era, or to fit a particular request. In this case, they went out and sourced a trashed BMW 'vert, probably painted it to match the original, and went with it rather than wait for the exact model and brand to pop up.

It's no different from the suspension of disbelief in a Broadway show, people. The helo in Miss Saigon wasn't real, was it? 99% of the people watching are following the drama (it is a drama, not a reality show), and are not going to give a good goddamn if it's the exact same car or not. It's all about the money, honey... That's how Hollywood works, in case you hadn't noticed...

What I found weird was that they didn't show Deb crashing the car.

Originally I thought this was done so it would leave a suspense whether Deb deliberately crashed the car or Hannah put pills in the bottle.

But in the last episode Hannah admitted in putting the crushed pills in Debs water so i wonder why they didn't show Deb getting sleepy and crashing the E36.

Same thought adaseb. Same thought.

They explained that. The idea was to make it look like LaGuerta and the Cuban guy killed each other in a shoot-out. Miami PD would then find her and the guy's body there and that, along with the evidence Dexter left framing LaGuerta, would be enough to show that LaGuerta was the Bay Harbor Butcher.

I was disappointed as well. Just feel they could've ended it better.

It's not an ending. It's the beginning of the end. Didn't you hear the voice over?

If dexter didnt take care of the bodies, then ballistic will show that it was deb's gun that killed laguerta, not cuban guy's. I think it's better if their bodies were missing. I know this is a TV show, but things like those should be taken into account. After all, dexter has been very thorough in his blood spatter analysis throughout the series. Viewers will feel cheated if the miami PD just conclude that laguerta and cuban guy killed each other, unless of course, dexter planted evidence (removed the bullet from laguerta and shot into the gunshot wound with cuban guy's gun). I honestly think season 7 wasnt nearly as good as season 4

I didn't mind the finale. Didn't think it was the best ending, but I was only dissapointed that Dexter didn't see the flower at his door. Interested to see where they take the story during the final season, hope Hannah McKay has some part in it

This. That's why I was saying they needed to do something with the bodies. Also, they'd need to remove the bullet, clean everything up (remember there wasn't any of that plastic crap around), scrub it all down, etc. Felt VERY sloppy for an ending of Dexter where everything is neatly wrapped up (and thrown overboard )
