My Ride: BMW 318i 2003
is a 2003 318i australian model an E46? blower fan dead

My Blower fan just stopped working all of a sudden. I have a 2003 318i australian model, is this an E46? All the dash lights are on for the climate control, the lines go up as I press the button to increase the fan pressure but no fan works at all. The a/c light comes on and I think I can hear the compressor kick in but still no fan. I have checked all 3 fuses (behind the flap in the glove box on the left hand passenger side and they are all OK. I have searched the web for days and I am guessing it's the fan or the final stage resistor (FSR) by the research. Do I pull the glove box out on the Left passenger side of the vehicle or under the dash on the right driver's side of the vehicle? Is there a way of checking something or testing something first? Also, if I need a new FSR, where do you recommend I buy one from and what model do I search for or part number and how much roughly should I pay? Thanks heaps in advance if you can help me out.

most likely the fsr man.. I did it on mine a few years ago, it's on the right hand side (drivers side for us aussies). It was a total PITA to do as you're in the most uncomfortable spot under the steering wheel!

If you let me know the last 6 of your VIN number I can get the correct part number for you. I think it's the same part for all e46's afaik

Definitely your FSR. I am not sure if it is located in the same place on RHD cars. If it is, then it's next to your left leg while driving. If it is a mirror of the LHD version, then it's under your glovebox and to the right. It's a bitch to get to. Your back is going to cramp up. Enjoy.
