Lag depends on the size of a turbo. The guy that tuned my s2000 has an autocross specific MR2 spyder. His turbo setup has full spool at idle.

Serious question or trolling?
If srs, then it means that the desired boost/tuned boost is achieved at xxx rpm. In the case of that MR2, full boost (or full spool) is achieved at 900 rpm or so (turbo is a Gt22 I believe with a few minor modifications.)

Original motor. Not sure why the MR2. He has a boosted s2000 for road racing, but the MR2 is for autocross. I guess the MR layout is better, but honestly, I'm not sure I believe the GT22 is most commonly used on high power snowmobiles and bikes (like a Hayabusa.)

Your friend doesn't have full spool at 900 Rpms. That's a load of horse ****.

First, he is not my friend. I met him once when he tuned my s2000. He had his s2000 and his MR2 in the shop under covers, and while we were hooking my car up I was asking him about his cars. Maybe it wasn't 900rpm but 1500 I don't remember. This was YEARS ago. Maybe he said "right near idle" and not "idle". What I do remember is that he was running an EXTREMELY small turbo. He was regarded as the best Emanage tuner in the country, and was booked for over a year in advance. All the biggest tuners in the country, including Jeff Evans sent people to him for tuning on piggybacks they couldn't do.

1500 I can believe with a very small Turbo. It would suck for anything other than Autocross as it would be way out of its efficiency range up top but when killing cones you need response.

For that near idle to have full boost, he'd have to be running some super tiny turbo at like 3psi or something? The power gains would be next to nothing.

No, but he sure wouldn't be winning any highway roll races on the way out there, that's for sure.

It is purely an autocross car. He had a mazdaspeed 3 as his daily and a pickup of some sort for towing (he toured the country with his dyno for tuning).

What? What does the size of the turbo have to do with psi? A gt22 can add 60+hp, depending on the application.

Size of the turbo doesnt have anything to do with psi, I meant to reach full boost at that low rpm the boost probably isn't that high.
