2012 BMW 328i:
0-60 (sec): 5.9 (6.7 w/ TC on)
0-60 with 1-ft Rollout (sec): 5.5 (6.3 w/ TC on)

2011 BMW 335i (N55):
0-60 (sec): 4.7

2007 BMW 335i (N54):
0-60 (sec): 4.8

Listen, I am a BMW fan...I like them all. I'm not bashing the F30 328i by any means...I'm just saying based on the numbers above, the 328i is about a second slower 0-60. That is all.

We put an f30 328i against an e90 335i. Both stock and auto.

The f30 won.

yeah right, so a single turbo 4 banger makes the same power as a TT I6?? riiiiight

All I know is, my 01 330i is faster than all these pieces.

Can you read properly? it says 5.5 seconds (6.3 with TC on)

In stock form, I would take the N55 over the N54. It's more refined, and I found that the torque comes in sooner. If I had plans to modify the car/engine, I would take the N54. More tuning potential, more aftermarket support. I like the N20. I think it's a great engine with lots of potential. Would be cool in a 128i.

Were the 1 Series a bit smaller and much lighter, I think the N20 would make for the perfect 128TTi. As for any 3 Series, ante in starts with six cylinders, period.

the N20 is a nice little engine though, and it my wifes new car, pulls harder than her previous e92 328 with the N52. I like the engine.

that said, the F30 doesnt post faster times than the N54 335s.....

Not when you drive both cars back to back. I test drove both cars, and while the 328i is quick, 335i feels much quicker, although yes, the numbers are close (0-60 times, at least). At high speed, 335i keeps pulling. I'm not in the US, so i drove both cars at their limits without getting into trouble with the authorities. The 335i reached 260 kmh (around 160 mph) easily. Using a gps, it's probably 155 mph give or take, but the 335i reached that speed much more quickly than the 328i, or at least i felt that way. Both cars are still faster than both my e46 and e60 though And theyre both more comfortable than my e60 in stock form.

N20 is an amazing engine. It's everything a good engine should be: powerful and fuel efficient. If some of you feel the car lacks soul or whatever, it's not the engine's fault. It's the chassis, including the steering, tires (the 328i i drove had goodyear efficientgrip tires), etc. I dont care much about the so-called diesel engine noise at idle. Just blast the stereo.

But stock for stock? I find it hard to believe that a 4-cyl turbo engine can keep up with a 6-cyl TT, as stated by many.

But thats an evo......not a BMW, evo engines have magical powers, the N20 doesn't.

N20 engine has potential, just like every other turbo engine. But then again, n54 has even more potential, even more than n55
