Revisiting an old issue.. Vibration/Jerk in the rear

Maybe its just been worn more and more over time? Or maybe the two parts linking in the joint contract with the low temps and allow for more play? Just throwing around ideas here haha.

Yes, you sorry. Maybe the two pieces of the u joint have more play when its colder because they contract?

Too bad all the pics are missing of that dudes thread. So basically he just removed some switched to avoid the clutch/gas jerk, I just did a clutch stop mod last year and that was great!

Ah I get it now! Yah it's a good call wish I would of looked at the joint while doing my CSB/guibo earlier this year but totally forgot. Cause in order just to inspect that you gotta drop the exhaust.

I ordered the transfer case bushing as mine is busted out anyways. So perhaps when I do that I will look at the driveshaft for play and see what's going on then.

Sweet! Just ordered e9x m3 motor mounts and UUC black enforced transmission mounts! Both were blown on my vehicle, if these don't solve the issue then I'll order a driveshaft!

Btw, his "tweak" actually makes the clutch switch for changing your idle and cam timing engage sooner, so your engine is ready for drivetrain load!

Well when you do this MOD take some pics and post them up so we can actually see, I'm more visual learner than anything.

Yeah I found pictures of where to modify the switch, I forget where I found them though. I'll snap some while I'm in there for everyone. I should be after it in the next week, possibly even this weekend. I know it won't solve my issue (too severe to be timing related), but it seems that it might help out later down the road, so why not?

What thread depth are your tires? It might be an issue with your all wheel drive trying to engage.

What do you mean trying to engage? Isn't the AWD always running on the xi's?

Wouldn't think the tread depth have anything to do with this?

BMW AWD splits tourque 40/60 normaly. If ABS detects slip on on of the axles the power can be put up to 100 percent onto an axle. If your tire threads are off up to a certain depth nore power can be going to that one axle all the time heating it and wearing it down. So my guess is that the vibrating is caused by the axle trying to engage.

Thanks for the info but I highly doubt this is the case I've had 4 different tires on the car now since purchase and its doing it so I highly doubt my depth are off cause chances are slim on 4 different sets of tires lol

Plus my xice tires I just had mounted, balanced and car aligned were measured at 9/32's all 4.

I did order the TC bushing and hope to have that replaced soon. If that doesn't fix it then I think there is some underlining driveline things going on that I might have to just live with lol!
