On another note, is it just me, or is CNN and other news outlets seem to be reporting a lot of gun related crimes...more so than usual? As if to heighten awareness?

They have an agenda, its called total gun control. Funny how they dont report the crimes that are being stopped by legal CHL holders.

It's always sad when we lose a fellow Firefighter, especially when it's senseless! Hope the perpetrator/s rot in hell for their actions. Hopefully the firefighters families receive justice!

fvcking disgusting. firefighters of all people. what can you have against firefighters. i would be disrespecting animals if i called the shooter one.

I'm disgusted, its fvcking assh0les like this that gives the politicians the ammunition to call for all out gun control. I hope the shooters burn in the deepest circle of hell.

i know with paramedics in some areas, a policeman must be there before they get out of the wagon, due to the scene not being secured.

i cant see why it wouldnt be like that for most firefighters arriving at a scene either.

Because we're working within time limits of flashover to actually start fighting fire. After 7 minutes of a fire burning, the hazard increases for anyone entering the immediate danger to life and health (hot)zone. Just like with EMS, time is of the essence in this profession. It's hazard enough walking into a burning building, much less getting shot at while doing this.

This is truly ****ing awful. I have a lot of respect for firefighters. Their families will never forget this Christmas.

But don't forget, when the US uses drones to strike targets, secondary strikes are often initiated to target and eliminate first responders.

What do Drone strikes have to do with the slaying of firefighters? Apples and oranges if you ask me, comparing war tactics to some disturbed individual killing firefighters.

Firefighters are first responders. We mourn the death of our first responders here, while our government employs the 'double tap' method when they respond to our drone strikes. Does anyone else see the inconsistency here?
