Just got a B30 throttle body for $40. New gasket thrown in for free! Just waiting on delivery and some new intake boots from the dealer when the time comes to do the swap.

Got a package today full of fun things
Thought I was getting the whole engine harness on the cold side for the MAF, TB, etc. but that didn't come with the supplies. ![]() Need Intake boots and some MQS contact bushes and the special crimp and I'm ready to make a my very first wiring harness.

Okay, this thread has been very enlightening for me...
Hope i'm not being rude threadjacking you guys a little bit? I'm doing a M62TU swap into a E46 that had a M43B19 engine prior... Both have what i beleive is referred to as A6000 style DME... (MS42,43,45 are A6000 style?) I'm not sure which, and that is why i'm here The M62TU utilizes wich DME ?!?! Looking at electronics from the car, and the X60001, X60002, X60003, X60004 and X60005 connectors, it seems that apart from having to ship my ECU to RPM motorsports for a EWS recoding, the DME will plug up perfectly and i will only need to wire up the accelerator pedal... Can anyone confirm this for me and answer the above mentioned questions, i have been basing my knowledge on my research of MS42 and MS43 schematics... Thanks in advance you guys, all help is really appreciated.... |

Looks like the last M62tub44 utilized Bosch Motronic ME7.2. Not much I can do in the way of help. Only familiar with Siemens ECUs.

can you see if the M62TUB35 utilized a different unit ?
and where can i see the pinout for a ME7.2 DME ? I only need to know if the input from a E46 will have the same pins as the input from a E39... If everything is the same, i can just plug up and wire in the throttle pedal.... Last edited by Angelic0-; 12-26-2012 at 07:46 PM. |

Probably the same motronic unit.
Try spaghetticoder and see if you can pull up the info. Start your search on bmwfans.info using the vin from your donor engine. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Bimmer App

Bump for me...
Thinking about saving the cash on the engine management tuning part and just having the MS43 unit coded to EU2 330 specification. Part number: 12 14 7 552 618. Thoughts? Besides the intake camshaft and the .2 displacement difference, the engine would essentially be the same. MAF, TB, Manifold/DISA, Fuel Injectors, Headers and O2 sensors. I have a set of stock 330 cams in my basement collecting dust and can throw the intake cam in if necessary. I think it will adapt for the missing displacement and make some great numbers. Looking to get this project moving as soon as I receive the engine harness promised to me by Bavarian Motor House. Happy New Years!

I could try studying the maps in the MS42 and MS43 and help you port them over. I've been learning a lot with the MSS54. Another ECU might be fun Last edited by TerraPhantm; 12-31-2012 at 02:02 AM. |

I definitely wouldn't spend several hundred on a tune in your shoes though. I'd rather put the money into getting a 3.0 rotating assembly. |

I don't want to go that far. I'm quite happy with my lil 2.8. I want to see how much I can make with that before I get into internal swaps. Next step is to get that LSD and replace all the rear end bushings with the AKG 90A and weld in the TMS kit, because I'm certain that there has to be some kind of damage back there, although I'm hoping it's clean. Checked out okay with the Class Action Lawsuit, but I don't think they really looked at it that much to really be able to tell if it was cracking.
No matter, if you're still outside of DC for your internship we could meet up and do some coding. Engine harness is on it's way should arrive by the 7th. Need to get boots and I'm done.

So how can you align the EWS and the DME? Have you found a solution? I think its best to just get them as a pair.

He's going to be charging me 350$ for coding and 40$ for shipping each way, he's going to be making a claim invoice to avoid taxes for me... But i like your input, not really sure if we're dealing with the same company though... I've only heard good stuff about Chris @ RPM, this is the first horror story... |
