guys it's been 3 weeks i'm doing crossfit 3-4 times a week. Watching what I eat for a while before. This workout has pushed me beyond what I thought I could do, i'm appreciating the workouts a lot, I put on 5 pounds this month. I'm 6'3. was 263lbs just measured 268lbs after a nice dump in the morning. Possible that shocking my body has made me gain an actual 4-5 lbs in a month?
I'm really pushing hard at the workouts, I'm working through the soreness and I keep on pushing. My shoulders/lats and abs have been sore to an extent I didn't know was possible.

No, muscle won't generally pack on that fast, but I'm sure that you've gained some.

No probably half that. Generally expect about 1 lb a week, so 4 lbs a month. Depending on your bulk, and clean or dirty could be 1 or 2 lbs muscle.

ive been wondering about the wisdom behind crossfit. as i see it, it's mainly powerlifts performed at a cardio pace. is there anything beneficial to combining the two as opposed to lifting with slower, controlled form and then doing cardio afterwards?

crossfit is a compromise workout for people with an inability to concentrate.

The things that most people like best and that keep them coming back are the competitive nature of it and the sense of community that develops. CrossFit is pretty much singlehandedly responsible for the decline in equipment pricing and the resurgence of olympic lifting. Those are the two main benefits I have seen from it personally. I still do heavy lifts then cf style workouts. I never ever do cardio. IMO it's just more fun to lift heavy things in succession at a fast pace rather than sitting on an elliptical for 40 minutes. I also think you'll find a lot of people doing CF want to be good at everything rather than just look good on a beach 5 times a year like a lot of regular gym rats. |

Take for example a workout I have done a few times: 5 rounds of: 6 135lb Clean and Jerks 30 doubleunders (jumping rope where the rope passes under you twice every time you jump) I can do the 6 clean and jerks unbroken pretty easily and the weight is light enough that I'm not going to hurt myself with it even if form suffers a little bit. The doubleunders keep me breathing hard but allow me to recover so I can do the next set of clean and jerks underbroken. I usually get the whole thing done in under 5:00 and its a lot of work in that short of time. Good bang for your buck when time is at a premium.... |

you can do anything.
I usually do triplets Heavy movement (squat, clean, press, deadlift) something a little lighter and unrelated (push ups, ring dips, push press, hang clean) then something cardio (burpee, double under, box jump, run etc.) |

Every kind of physical workouts are quite beneficiary for our body and health as well.I like to see things like this because for some reason everyone thinks that unless you can only do one body part a week and you must do 3sets of 10. People need to open their minds a little bit.

I just succumbed to this workout they call crossfit. My equipment should be coming in this week. My plan is to do a week of crossfit workouts, then hit the gym the following week. We shall see how that works out for myself. I also like the convenience of having the gym at the house and the short duration crossfit workouts entail. Some days, I have no time to to spend 1-2 hours at the gym.
Will post pics when I get it all set up.
