No one's really sure what's in store for 2014, and when exactly it'll be released. But it sounds pretty definite that they'll be moving back to a 2.0L engine instead of the 2.5L that the current models have. Subaru typically releases new models around Sept/Oct, but with an all new model, all bets are off. When I bought my '11, I had to wait 9 weeks for delivery - My early October order was delivered a few days before Xmas. HTH

I actually think the normal WRX is more fun to drive, with its slightly softer suspension and superior gearing.

Give or take a few bucks, depending on what you go with..
Some people are doing Brembo swaps (from an STI), while others are going for something like a set of Stoptech ST-40s (arond $2300), and there are plenty of suspension options for around $2K or so. Honestly, if the OP is only going to be tracking once or twice a year, the stock stuff should suit him just fine. |

From what I heard you will most likely prefer the STI over the WRX largely because of the transmission.

My company used to have this feature, but then people would buy BMW's and Mercedes and complain about the cost of maintenance. The perk was revoked soon after. :/

i picked up a used 2011 base wrx sedan earlier this year after my e46 got smashed by an old lady.......as a daily driver, i couldn't ask for anything more.....no problems (knock on wood), its easier on the wallet than a bmw, all wheel drive is nice in the snow, it's rather spacious inside, and it has power when i need.....the only gripes i have with the car is the suspension, poor sound deadening, and the gas consumption could be better....but overall i am very pleased...i did test drive a 2011 sti beforehand and actually didn't care too much for it....it didn't feel any faster and the suspension was not to my liking at all...for some reason the interior even felt smaller to me.....not worth the $$$$ difference...the only thing i think that the sti has over the wrx is the transmission

Drove the Evo today. Not impressed.
STi they would not let me drive because of weather. Bastards. I'm going to see if I can get away with a 2 door. Thinking 128i with a STX build. Or 135i in STU? They are cheaper than Evo and STi, and I can get CPO. Win win?

Already have a badass coupe BMW, why get another? Change it up a bit dude!
Go try a GTI, I love mine. Sure its FWD and a little underpowered, but thats nothing a $600 ECU tune can't fix (adds 50 hp and 60 lbs of torque) |

Can't escape the quality and rigidity of the BMW...
I won't change the ECU. Against rules.

Don't bother with the GTI, you can't even turn stability control off

And if you're about to buy an STi, drive a WRX first. I'm serious. You may be surprised as to which you prefer. |
