^^^ Like he said. Great engine. Don't go bigger than a 71mm turbo. Waay to much lag after that. Unless your running nitros. But your daily driving with will be Boring. Just my two cents. Carry on..

No, the 46 and 36 are basically the same up front. The biggest thing is getting the wiring to work, but there are pre-fabbed kits out there with wiring harnesses, headers, motor mounts. The rest is moving things like abs etc around to make a 6.2 fit. The power is insane, no s54 2jz or w/e else your thinking will produce the numbers an ls will for a reasonable price. Parts are cheap and readily accessible, maint is cheap, and the engines are strong. Also you dont need FI to make over 600hp/550tq, and the engine is lighter than an s54.

How do you get 1000+ out of that motor? Probably by spending a **** load of money.. lol. I'd actually love to know, but it's probably gonna be a little out of my price range.
Plus, I'd rather get 1000hp out of a JZ, not a BMW motor.

I dont know why you would need 1000+ hp but for $3500 u can get a vortech sc and be at 800+ on an ls2 and up.

I doubt you could get a reliable 800hp+ with just 3,500... show me the info? Lol.
I know you could obtain 500-520hp with a 2JZ after just a few bolt ons since they're still beast on stock internals (poncams, turbo, downpipe).

A sc kit would cost you 3500 on top of other bolt ons you would buy. Just look at the zr1, with a mild eaton supercharger the car comes with 638hp stock. Cam full exhaust throttle body etc plus the sc will get you to 800 hp, and i guarantee it will be cheaper than the other engines you brought up.
A 2jz isint the end all be all of engines, I mean the engine was created over 20 years ago. The lsx is much a much newer platform. Last edited by JiMMyM3; 12-28-2012 at 12:49 PM. |

No you're right, I'm not doubting your words or anything lol. I'll look some info up on the ls1. But still.. the 2JZ's internals was built to hand 250% of its stock power. How much power can the LS handle before you have to rebuild the internals? Although the LS maybe be considered more reliable because they're N/A, I'd personally rather have a nice turbo bolted on. I also think the 2JZ or even the SR if modded heavily, sound better than an N/A LS. If the LS swap could be that powerful and could be that cheap, I'm sure everyone would be doing it... I see more SR20's, JZ's, and RB25's being built. I'm not saying 2JZ or go home, but it is one of the best motors out there, regardless of how old it is. Why do you think most people would kill for a Supra?

As for the supra, it is an iconic tuner car with a great engine and styling, but if you want a super car a corvette is a much better option. Also, there are countless examples of 1000+hp lsx around, and other than a Ferrari there is no better sound than a straight piped American v8 screaming down the road. Super car and corvette should never be in the same sentence...

That's just an uninformed statement. A zr1 is an out of the box super car at a fraction of the price of porsches, lambos, mclearens. Also a modded z06, can make high hp numbers and be a monster on the track.

By your definition a LSX powered Civic would be a supercar... My M3 makes 800whp...it is not a supercar...if it made 2000whp...it is not a supercar. If I had a stock Lamborghini Aventador...that would be a supercar.

2JZ can handle about 450-550rwhp in 100% stock longmotor form depending on tune/fueling/everything else.
I have built 2jz from scratch, tuned it. Gone to the TX mile (Staged RHD Single T MK4 Supra in front of the Underground Racing V10TT lambo when it pulled a 250mph pass) GT35R/GT40R would be the item to use for stock toyota head/short block with OEM parts engine; you wont have traction in 1/2/3 gears with a manual transmission car. Transmission and driveline choices for 2J are less ideal than the nicer BMW drivelines that are plug and play. end of the day story is to turbocharge the OEM bmw engine and use the stock DME remapped. Build the engine if more than 400rwhp is needed

I guess you could say a supercar and an exotic can be different. Its all about how you would define it. Over here corvettes costs about the same as a Ferrari. Due to toll regulations and tax, and both are equally rare. So i would say Its a supercar. But if there was one standing in every other street i would probably say that Its not.
