This should be a simple question, but I've not found a sure-fire way to reboot the Android side of the Dynavin...without re flashing the ROM. Often the Android side gets an "unexpected" error and kills an app that cannot restart, so I was thinking of just rebooting it. The factory reset just affects the Dynavin radio side, so that really does do the reboot.

I'm new to Android,so any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi Jeff, got the relocation bracket yesterday!

Before I start with the installation, I would like to ask you some questions (I did some search and did not find the answers).

Sent you an e-mail to jtdist@sbcglobal.net & jeffb325@DynavinSolutions, I would appreciate your quick reply as I plan to install this, this weekend.

Is this faulty?

Hiya,
Just got my D99+ Android unit (for a 2005 A3) When I power it up the screen isn't lighting up, I only get and internal 'whirring' for a second and a red light on the inside of the unit lights for a few seconds, then goes out. Button presses get no response.
Wiring harness has been checked as it is pretty simple and I'm sure I've got it connected properly. Fuse is fine. I've not connected anything else and am sure this is a power issue, a Canbus issue or just plain DOA. Suggestions anyone?
Thanks
Wontok

sounds like its not getting ACC power. The audi units are quite a bit different than the BMW ones when it comes to wiring, they get their 12V switched ignition from the Canbus Box, either you forgot to plug in the cabus box or its malfunctioning. The easiest way to troubleshoot this is to test the RED wire with a voltmeter or test light. It should be 12 volts when the car is on.

Hi guys, just wanted to share my Qs & Jeff's As regarding installation of the D99+ Android

1. Cable labeled DVD USB from the back of the D99+...what goes there? an USB extension for other device?

Its for plugging in a USB thumbdrive and playing media files, you can use the USB extension that came with your unit and run it to the glove compartment.

2. Aux/backup camera RCA connections and preamp outputs, should I decide not to use any of these options, can I just leave them disconnected (leave them in the box) or I have to connect them at the back of the D99 to make the device work?

Yes you can leave them disconnected.

3. Steering wheel control interface, I saw how to plug this interface to the D99+, but where/how do I connect the interface to the car? The interface has an USB2 like plug on the other end or do I plug nothing there?

It does not plug into the car, just plug it into the harness with the main plug and you are done. The mini USB is for programming, not used in the install.

4. AMP CON cable, you mentioned that this needs to be well “insulated & secured”, can I roll & wrap this cable with an electrical tape to avoid making contact to anything? or I have to connection this somewhere, if so where??

electrical tape so it cant short out.

5. Parking Brake cable, I did not seen any instructions on where/how to connect them. Or it can be left disconnected? Will the DVD watching feature work if I leave it not connected?

dont connect it if you want the DVD to work all the time, there is a setting called BRAKE in the menu that gets rid of the warning message. Dont watch videos while you are driving, if you crash its on you!

the UPS thing was a joke (mostly). If you didnt take out the shipping screws then that is your issue. Take them out, pat yourself on the back for missing the big red tag that says REMOVE. Dont worry, just having a little fun at your expense, you would not be the first to miss them, Ive done it myself

Morning Jeff, I removed the shipping screws last night and the CD/DVD works, everything was working just the way I want it to!!

...now this morning I try to use the Nav (Google Maps) and for some reason the GPS is taking to long to work/connect, so I decided to cancel and close the app. But from there I'm stuck at the Android desktop...nothing works (move left, right, try to open another app), so I turn the D99+ off. Upon turning the device on, I lost volume on Radio mode and my stations as all messed-up. Switched to iPod mode and I have to turn the volume near to max just to hear the songs...what do you think happened??

...after arriving at work and leaving the car off for about 30min, I turn the D99+ on and the volume is back, but the radio stations are still messed-up (not a big deal), will this keep on happening every time an app fail to close?

...I got this pop-up when I try to add an App. I'm buying an SD Card tonight, will any Micro SD work? SD, SDHC?

...and finally (for now ), any suggestions on my setup to optimize the use of this D99+ ?

...web browsing works

I see in the pic above that the amp setting is on optical, for anyone reading this NEVER PUT IT ON OPTICAL on an E46. It should be set to NONE or COMMON, whichever setting gives you the correct volume range. As for the issue you had, it sounds like android froze for whatever reason, when it froze it was in the state where it was inserting some audio (like a nav voice command) so the rest of the units volume was reduced. A hard reset (turning it off) fixed it which is why its fine now. Android freezing happens sometimes but should not be commonplace so if it keeps happening reinstall the android ROM.

Also make sure you set the android apps to NOT auto update, updates going on in the background when you turn the car off can corrupt the OS so its important the that unit not be doing things without your knowledge. If you have any further android issues get involved with the android thread, lots of guys on there who know a lot more about android that I do.....

Yes, most any card should work, but watch out for "fake" cards that are all over the internet.....if it seems to good(cheap) to be true, it probably is....

Ordered from jeff last week and receiving D99+ WinCe unit Monday. With back up cam and gonna hardwire some nifty little idea for a way to watch video off of the new iPhone 5 on the dynavin.
Some pictures, some bs, some dynavin porn to come..

Btw, jeff would be the only guy I would deal with in regards to this unit. Every question, brainstorm and rant I've thrown his way was answered and talked about and solved. Great great great guy to deal with.. More vendors should take a page out of his book
