Just tried to pm you again, but just in case it doesnt go through again, here's a copy and paste...

My car is a 2000 S52 m roadster and it definitely has brake ducts, with rectangular holes guiding the air to the discs. It also has a tube on the driver's side integrated into the duct that feeds cool air into the air box.

The car has had several previous owners and if what you're saying is true then maybe they put the ducts in from the later 2001 and up roadsters. Beats me.

And when I say brake ducts, I should now be saying brake duct, singular, since my voyage to Austin, TX from San Diego, CA claimed the passenger side brake duct and the front splitter I had on that side. My fabricated supports held up though! Hanging on to a chunk of carbon fiber.

And my car is definitely a genuine s52 m roadster. The VIN, etc. confirms it, so the brake duct thing is quite baffling.

If you have time to answer another question, what would happen if I did what I did when I turbo'd my Miatas. No computer work, just bigger injectors, and a vortec boost dependent fuel management unit, with the right innards to keep the a/f ratio at a nice 14.7 to 1? Would the computer freak out and go into some sort of limp home mode or just give it all it's got in terms of injector pulse width based on the readings it would get from the MAF?

It will blow up. I'm not sure honestly how you even got that to work in your Miata, especially if you were tuning for 14.7, must have been making no power otherwise it would have blown up. No forced induction tune will ever target 14.7 unless it's at idle or cruise. 14.7 in boost, making any worthwhile power, it's gonna blow up, without a doubt.

Hmmm. That's weird. When I had the 14.7 vortec fmu I was getting 285hp @ 6500 rpm running 16 lbs of boost on the dyno. And the early model Miata 1.6l engines were the same ones out of the factory turbo 323 gtx, except no turbo. Only problem i ever had was i/c piping hoses popping off lol. Weird. BMWs are a whole new ballgame for me so youre the guru in this case. What do you target your a/f at? Much richer?

And are you saying something like a vortec fmu setup and bigger injectors, no computer work would not work at all or that the fmu would need to be setup to give a different a/f ratio?

Touché. Anyway, to clear my name, my assumption about the a f ratio was because the vortec unit that vortec told me to get was their 14.7 unit, which they were commissioned to sell with greedy kits. And since 14.7-1 is lamda and the ideal a f mixture of a freaking engine, I assumed 14.7 was the way to go but I looked it up and that unit was actually making 11-1 under boost.

Relax everyone, I never claimed to be a turbo rocket surgeon. I just always assumed lamda was always the right ratio to have under all conditions. No richer, No leaner.

Anyway, A4, how much would a setup like yours cost all in, just parts and tune?
