Paint

Hello fellow enthusiasts, I am 16 years old and just received my fathers old 2000 323i as my first car. The car is absolutely gorgeous except for one problem; the paint. On the very center of the roof, "the clear coat" went bad and there appears to be white spots ruining the paint. As you may imagine, my car turns heads at a glance in the school parking lot but from up close it doesn't look so hot. Any suggestions other than re-painting the entire car? I wash the car weekly and give it a fresh wax approximately twice a month. Thanks!

Sounds like the clear is delaminating. Only solution is to paint, but the good news is you don't have to paint the whole car.

Won't just painting the roof make it look weird compared to the rest of the car?

If you do it in your garage, yes. If a skilled painter does it, not so much.

No, the rest of the car won't have that brand new paint look, but with a proper blend, you'll most likely never notice the difference.

Unless the rest of the car looks like crap, in which case you're just screwed.

But either way, there are far more important things to be concerned with before painting your roof.

Thanks for your input! I'll investigate further. The rest of the car is in great shape other than a few scratches here and there, which is normal considering it has 130,000 miles on it! Pics to come.

A full exterior detail "including paint correction" would make a would of difference. Expecially if the white is oxidation
