2001 E46 Antennas - Help!

I recently bought the D5113 Dynavin clone and got it installed relatively quick. However, the back of the D5113 has 1 radio antenna port and my 2001 325i has 2 antennas...1 is larger and round while the other is much smaller and squared off. The adapter that came with the radio only fits the smaller one. My radio reception is terrible! Can anyone tell me the difference between both antennas and what part/adapter I need to make this work? I've read on some other posts that a new amplifier might be required to power the antenna. I'm confused and need some direction. I can post pics if necessary. Thanks!

Search this forum. Basically, the antenna system in the earlier E46's require updating to work properly with the newer head units.

I found lots of articles, but they all left me confused. Some say a simple adapter will work. Some say an adapter with a booster will work. Others say you need an adapter AND a new amplifier to work. I guess I'm looking for someone that also has a Dynavin or D5113 that can tell me what worked for them specifically. I hate to buy a new amplifier if I can just get by with an adapter.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Can someone tell me what the correct cable ends for the antenna I need?

It's the larger antenna connection (black) that I need to go in the back of my D5113. I'm not sure exactly what style/type it is. I see references for DIN and ISO. Essentially I need the larger black antenna (male) to go into a female connection which in turn plugs into the back of the D5113 head unit. Can someone help me identify exactly what I'm after? Thanks.

I'm just trying to identify the names of the antenna connector types coming out of my 2001 325i so I can ask for the correct antenna adapter. I believe the smaller one of the FAKRA cable? I don't know what the larger black one is called.

I purchased a that unit and it did not fix my problem
the 2001 E46 BMW requires power for the antenna. Here is a post that explains it.

I have not solved my problem. $200 is too much to pay for better FM reception.

Here is what I had and an explanation of what is needed http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpos...&postcount=910

Here is what I found I needed for decent FM reception with a Dynavin installed http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showpos...&postcount=911

Still no AM reception though. Also, tinted windows often have metallic in them and as the antenna are line sin the rear window, reception is compromised.

Mine is a 2001 which had the two antenna leads to the HU. I did not replace the Antenna Amplifier.
