My Ride: 01 325xi wagon 5spee
|
Hello from alaska!
I recently sold my camry wagon and bought a very well kept 01 325xi wagon with a 5 speed, this car is world apart from my camry. I have a short list of preventative maintenances to do as i take it out of town and have started on some of them. this forum has a weather of knowledge!
change oil - done replace valve cover gasket (stunk!) - done replace coolant tank (it's moist around seam) - ordered replace air filter - ordered replace spark plugs - ordered replace water pump - ordered replace oil filter gasket - ordered replace main belt - ordered flush coolant - waiting for parts replace vanos oil line (minor leak) - ordered the vanos is pretty quiet and no weird noises unless it's below zero degrees and then there's a little rattle for about a minute on cold start up. i'm putting that at the end of the list till next summer when weather is warmer. anything else i should consider? i travel out of town frequently. ![]() |

the only spirited driving it will see is in the winter in the form of drifting, it's going to be the daily driver and the weekend get away vehicle. my goals are to make it reliable as possible without breaking the bank (ill do my own work) and as efficient as possible. I'd like to do as much as possible to extend it's lifespan.
short of the leather interior I am unfamiliar of what options it has and what is standard... i was doing some googling but came up dry. Last edited by akhoundog; 12-30-2012 at 02:59 AM. |

it has sport and winter package for sure, but I am unsure if it has premium package. Can you toggle the temperature/time/on board computer from the blinker stalk?

Sounds like the previous owner really knew what he/she wanted! E46's don't have wipers, but we do have washer nozzles for the headlights on winter package cars. This one has it. See the little rectangular type pieces right below the middle of the headlight lens? It pops out to squirt the headlights. Last edited by B_Cyrus; 12-30-2012 at 07:55 PM. |

Thanks! I replaced the CCV, it was causing the car to burn enough oil to make some nasty smells. Not exactly my idea of a good time. I love the car tho, very good driving experience.

That interior
Now just wrap that trim and the interior is perfect!
