Average cost of used diffs?

I'm trying to get an idea on what a fair price is on some used diffs for my xi.

So lets say I'm looking at a pair of 3.25 diffs with 53k on them, what's a fair price? $400 a diff...

3.25 is not an xi ratio. 3.46 or 3.23 is what you want. 3.23 will be much harder to find.

$100 each if they are from a junkyard. $200 if they are from a working car with fluid changes. BMW diffs fail far less frequently than the cars are wrecked so there's a ton in junkyards.

My bad I misread realoem, they are 3.23. Wow I was way off on the price then! The diffs I found are out of a 53k car & mine is just shy of 240k so I'm debating either swapping or having them rebuilt.

What's wrong with them?

Www.car-part.com. Search for "carrier".

I haven't had the time to visually inspect them so ATM nothing. No weird noises or jerking during cornering, I'm new to the e46 model & am just trying to get a feel for what stuff is going for.

^ just change the fluid in both and periodically check for leaks. The diffs will most likely be fine until the fluid is no good or low.

Three bottles of synthetic 75w90, fluid pump, 4 crush washers, and a 14mm hex head socket is all you need.
