Glock 19 vs. M&P9C

Can not make up my mind for the life of me. Looooove the way the m&p full size fits in hand, love the size of the compact. hate the way the grip angles up in the back. Love the way the 19 is the same size barrel as full size with the shorter grip like my sig rcs. Please help me out here :/

Do they make an extension mag for the M&P? Made my XD compact much more comfortable shooting.

they do but then its the same size as the full size grip wise and i prefer smaller grips. Tempted to just get the full size and chop it down since i have always preferred the cco style pistols ( 4.25 barrel, compact grip) any other options besides g19 and chopped mp9

If you're not set on 9MM, I love my XD40 subcompact. Shoot one with and without the extension and see what you think.

not a fan of .40, shot the xd40 and glock 40 both in full size and compact and just prefer 9mm or .45

Both great options. Can't go wrong either way. The full size glock 17 has a little longer barrel. My advice is to buy both....

Glock M&P and XDM are all great. You also have Sig and HK.

I went through the same decision a few months back. I shot both back-to-back several times (my range has a great rental selection), and ended up buying the Glock. In the end, it's personal preference. Stock for stock, I prefer the Glock grip and trigger, and shot it better. Drop an Apex trigger in the M&P, and that changes though....!

G19 barrel is 0.5" shorter than the G17. Grip is reduced just a little less than that. G19 is more of an intermediate gun, and is compact. The M&Pc is more aptly categorized as a subcompact gun, not a compact.

Here's the thing- M&Ps have a backstrap grip system that is much different than Glock's. If you get a full size M&P, chopping the grip is a full custom job that requires moulding filler onto the back grip, or permanently attaching a chopped backstrap. Just something to be aware of. It will look like this:

My personal recommendation in this case would be the G19 so that you don't have to get any custom work done if you don't want to. If you really like the compact size, and this is going to be a carry gun, the M&P9c is probably the best overall option. The smaller size is a definite benefit. However, subcompacts like the M&P9c and Glock 26 suck to shoot at the range on a regular basis. If you want a gun that will see a ton of range time, go for the G19, or get the M&P9 full size and leave the grip length where it is.

Depends if it's carry or range, like Reedo said.

Either choice is a good choice, but I am in love with my M&Pc

Congratulations! The FS M&P can be concealed with a good belt. It's one of the softest shooting guns I have. Very very nice for taking new shooters out on. T

Couldn't even take it out today. Hour and a half wait at the only range in town.

That sucks. BUT, it's a great gun and you'll be happy. If you decide to upgrade the trigger, look into the Apex Tactical DCAEK and RAM upgrades.

Are you still carrying & shooting your M&P primarily?

Gen 3 or 4 most likely. I'm looking at new for their substantial military discount

Gen 3 Glock 19. Go for it. IWB carry one every day, and love it. I trust it with my life.

Finally got to take it to the range today. LOVE IT! very light recoil, only issue is shooting low left which is definitely me. near the end of my range time loosening my grip and pulling instead of squeezing? the trigger definitely shooting where it was supposed to. Nowhere near as accurate as i was with my Sig RCS but love how light it is even with 18 rds. Also nice not to have any malfunctions like i did with my rcs before i sent it back to sig to fix the extractor. Just need more ammo and trigger time when i get back in a few months lol
