Damn, yeah i wonder if its because they dont work. I think im gonna try the defouler mod and if that still doesnt work then just swap my stock manifolds back on for emissions time.

Ill look on there but ive been reading on m3 forum that using the spark plug defouler is more consistent in working.

Something tells me defoulers wouldn't work that great on the MS45 330s since they have wide-band O2s... I could be wrong though.

You need patience and time for the spark plug defoulers to work right. They do work on the M54B25 and M54B30 tho.

Time? Like do you mean at first the light will come on and then once the dme runs a cycle it will clear or what?

Time as in you might have to mess around with them for the light to clear. But I dunno, my guy does some work on the post o2 sensor connectors that tricks the DME into thinking I have cats and guarantee too pass emissions. Hmu like I said when you give up haha.

Plug defoulers didn't work on my car. I tried a bunch of variations. No dice.

Wow that sucks cuz i was hoping to avoid having to swap out the headers for the stock manifolds just for emissions. I mean its a hell'ish job as it is just to put them on. I remember it took me 12 hours to put headers on my z4 and my buddy and i were cursing half the time and with bloody knockles.

o2 sim will work but will need a custom heater. I designed one at one point of time but to much work. I sold it with my old SS Headers...

Just hang your O2 sensors in the drug bin and use only the heaters from them. Works great.

The heaters built into the o2 sensors.

You should probably do some searching here on what causes a CEL when you install catless headers - this all has been covered over and over.

Obviously your post-cat O2 sensors will throw a code without cats because your catalytic converter efficiency has failed. If you install O2 simulators in place of your O2 sensors (which still won't let you pass emissions in most states) you'll get a code for O2 sensor heater circuit failures because the sims don't have a heater circuit built in.

You can use the post-cat O2 sensors for this. They have heaters in them. You can plug them in just for purposes of having the heaters in the circuit. You can hang them in the drug bin or just screw them into the headers. Doesn't matter where you put them, they just need to be in the circuit.
