He has already begun politicking for the 2016 campaign so he can hand it off to the next Democratic candidate. His idea of leadership is to give money to every special interest group that supported him in 2012.

I agree. This adminstration seems like it is just worried about its popularity.
I am all about making tough decisions but yet unpopular one in the best interest of our country.

I remembered when President Regan raise the interest rate just so that he can fight off inflation. Guess what? a lot of borrowers were upset (especially farmers) but his method definitely worked and the inflation was managed.

this adminstration will most likley cause inflation and as a result, the value of our money won't be worth as much. I am not no economic genius but how can you print money out of thin air and have such a low interest rate. something must give and that my friend is inflation.

He keeps kicking the can down the street. He is not going to do anything to upset the people that got him reelected and in doing so, he creates enough goodwill for the next candidate.

How can anyone suggest that increasing the national debt from 16.5 TN to 20.4 TN is going to improve things ? And it will have to be argued again in another 18-24 months.

But in all honesty , it was not just Obama. It was everyone that voted yes.

How about we institute a national tax........something minimal like 500 or even 250 a year for all adults 18 and over. A minimum tax for everyone. Regardless of your circumstance, everyone enjoys the benefit of our national defense, clean water, national parks, museums, safe bridges. etc......and that has to be paid for regardless .........

Everyone should contribute . Imagine how much more revenue that would bring in if the 40 percent that don't pay tax started paying a minimal amount. There should never be a sense of entitlement.

And if we did, there might even be greater participation in the democratic process.

Maybe by making sure that the country functions? Since everyone likes using these horrid analogies, let me do one: Imagine you're in debt, but the car you take to work needs repair. It's the only method for you to get to work. What do you do? Worry about your debt at this very moment or put a repair on the credit card?

For tax year 2005, around 135 million individual tax returns were filed. You say that 40 percent don't pay any taxes. What if each of them paid $500? That would get you around $27 billion. That would cover only .7% of the total budget! It would reduce the deficit by 3%. Discontinuing tax cuts for the top 2% nets you around $110 billion.

So, you can either squeeze 40% of the population for a $27 billion or you can allow rates for 2% to go back to their previous level and get 4 times as much reduction.

Another acolyte of Romney's "47%" strategy/ideology that served the GOP/TP so well last election. Perhaps if the 1% "job creators" would actually start creating jobs -- here in American that is -- rather than padding their own wallets and offshore bank accounts (also per Romney and as well evidenced by the stunning growth in wealth of the 1%), then perhaps the lower class would actually have some jobs to be hired for and be able to get out of unemployment as I am sure the vast majority of them would love to do.

Perhaps if the GOP/TP didn’t hold so much of the U.S. electorate in such disdain and contempt, they might actually come up with policies that benefit more than a well-heeled sliver of the populace and thus, not face a looming electoral cliff they are already dangling from.

As a young person I support this post. I honestly wish I could allocate the money I pay for SS and place it into something similar to an IRA with my name on it. I wouldn't have to fret so much about my retirement and keep dumping money into my 401k, stocks, and IRA because of the predictions noted in the quoted post.*I'm sure I'll get blasted for this but everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I like it, I also like any itemized taxes as they are more tangible to the American people.

Its own benefit, being the greater participation in the democratic process is its own weakness. Median earners and below will be irate with taxes levied on them, Democrats would never let it happen. Start taxing the lower class and you will see government begin to shrink as no one wants to pay for it.

The elderly are not bleeding the country dry, the government is. SS is just a big ponzi scheme for people who cannot manage their own money. SS should be eliminated but how do we ensure the elderly are taken care of?
