fcab lollypop tool options
the only tool i've found for removal and installation of the control arm bushings into/out of the lollypop brackets is the mis tool version. i nearly hit "pay" before double checking the applications list and it looks like it only works on m-series e46 models with 60mm diameter.
is this the only diy tool out there? (i've already purchased rubber oem replacement bushings as i'm not interested in the urethane options.) thanks in advance. |

are you referring to removing the bushing and bracket from the control arm?
i'm not sure how a 3-jaw puller could install the bushing into the lollypop.... |

I always install the bushings onto the front control arms using a little dish soap and my hands. Never had a problem

i'm not talking about getting the bushing onto the control arm. i'm referring to removing and installing the bushings in their holders/brackets.

getting one of these bushings...
![]() ... inside of this bracket ![]() i guess no one sells a tool for this that fits a non-m e46, short of a shop press. mis tools sells this ![]() but for other applications. oh well, thanks for looking. Last edited by pone; 01-05-2013 at 10:01 AM. |

I know what youre talking about. I installed Rogue CAB's into the original "lollipop" bracket. Meaning I pressed out the old bushing and housing out of the lollipop bracket. Then installed the new bushing and housing into that lollipop bracket.
I used a 6-Ton hydraulic press from harbor freight (scary quality stuff, this I know). I pressed out the old housing using a metal plate to go as far as I could. Then lined up the new housing perfectly with the old one inside of the lollipop bracket and pressed old out while pressing new in. I did not use a special tool although I considered fabricating a circular plate to press out the old ones. It probably would have been much easier to use a specialized tool - if you can find a 66mm one. However, it possible without. |

You could use a big C clamp from oriellys, autozone, etc to push out the old and install the new one. I rented it for 120 and when I returned it, I was refunded.
Two people would be best because the clamp is heavy and awkward to control with 2 hands. HTH Sent from my LG-P509 using Bimmer App

that's what i'm talkin about.
it looks to me like there's bushing sticking out each side of the bracket, the bracket depth is less than the bushing length. using the big c-clamp, is there an issue with the back-stop of the clamp blocking pushing the bushing in so it sticks out on both sides? Well I just pushed one out completely the installed the new one. Use a small ring from the pack to push it out and a ring should be about the s ame size of tge bracket.
