Obama has nothing to do with anything or any power. He cannot veto a bill.

Yes he can, but like I said, going over the fiscal cliff would have been far worse than what we have now, I can only imagine what the outrage would have been if Obama vetoed the bill, on both sides.

During the economic downturn in 2008/2009, they were told they could no longer work extra hours and thus their ability to earn overtime disappeared. Suddenly they found themselves in the red.

Americans got too comfortable with the temporary measure intended to help them that their life style adapted to the extra income. As a result, they became dependent.

It's time to readjust and be responsible. If you don't like paying 6.2%, then demand from your representatives and President a social security system that either costs less or tell them to find the extra money to fund it else where. Whether that's cutting new programs or raising other taxes, so be it.

Obama was going to veto the 1 million dollar tax bracket bill.

You mean someone like myself who makes 6 figures a year, drives a paid off 11 year old e46 and doubles up mortgages payments on a 15 year fixed while steadily pouring money into retirement? Yeah buddy.

Then do it. The SS tax (that has always been levied on you) shouldn't prevent you from doing so.

It's funny that Obama wants to raise the new tax rate for people earning as little as 250k a year, but Congress earns about 200k a year.
They never seem to legislate items against their own interest.

Are you upset that Congress doesn't earn enough or that Obama isn't requesting low enough of a tax bracket on which to raise taxes?

I wish I made as "little" as $250k a year, or even half that. Getting one's top bracket rate above $250K (much less $400k) upped a few percent sounds like a real First World/1% problem.
