You could just have a different build then me. I want my suit to fit like a glove, and the 40R does just that. It all depends on your shoulders. I'm 5'8 and 180 and the 40R is exactly what I wanted, Pants are a 33 though.

I just picked it up. No pics yet but the jacket covers almost my entire butt except the bottom and I can grab the bottom of the jacket with my hands. So my arms extend a few inches past the bottom.

You should be able to stick your arms straight down, and with your hand isolated, grab the bottom of the jacket with your hands.

Here's "the standard" if you will..

L length coats are too long for me
It's extra long, that's what the L indicates
Knowing that you are shorter than me by several inches, I can only assume that it will be too long on you
Would like to see the label with the sizing and a picture of you wearing it
If it fits you properly, then great
Because sizing labels are only guides ... but it still baffles me that an L length would fit you
That means whoever made the suit is doing something out of the norm
