Lol. It's not an S54. That's about the smallest power gain imaginable from a whole motor swap.

M54-> S54 = night and day
M20-> S52 = night and day
M50-> S50 = night and day
M54-> M54 = nice little upgrade

I drove one with a 3.0 and it was way faster than my 2.5. Your night and day may be different than my night and day

M54b25 -> M54b30 is pretty close to M50 -> S50... (unless you're talking euro version). Nonetheless, a 41-51hp increase in horsepower is not insignificant, especially when you're starting with 184. That's a 22-28% increase in power. The torque delta is similar in magnitude as well. IMO that's more than enough to be considered night and day.

The BMW is finished, i should be picking it up later today or tomorrow, he said im getting a check engine light due to my high flow air intake though, i'll put the factory box back on and see what happens, pictures to come...

Congrats, I also have an 01 325i so I am very interested in the power difference as you never know I may try this. The first pics look awesome congrats man.

I picked it up today, 2600 bucks total plus new gaskets which was cheap. Engine looks and runs great and the power difference WOW! It will run now, before I thought I was fast but now it's just the perfect amount. It glides up to 75 alot easier and pulls definitely alot harder! I think it was worth it. Ill post pictures after I get home from church

it gets up to 135 in a hurry to..... if you ever test it at those speeds

I did once when I had the 2.5 in there but it took awhile, cruised to 100 smooth, ill ride this one for a few weeks nice and easy to make sure it holds together b4 I open her up, now I need to install my new back tires and control arm bushings, and hope my CEL for the MAF goes away
