I think that's perfectly reasonable. Dad offered sis the same budget.

As being a business owner and a realist, I can see a good investment and a sh1t one. Spending a bunch of money on a wedding is a waste. I want a good phtographer, and the rest will be good food, booze and music. My playlist will be from the 80s and 90s. mostly old school hip hop and fun music. humpty dance is your chance to do the hump.

but that's where all the expense is, throwing the party.

our wedding ceremony is at a gazebo in a park we rented for $50.

figure $30 a person for dinner/cake and that's a few grand right there just to eat. a few grand to rent a space and decorate at minimum, a few grand for alcohol. a grand for the dj, grand for the photographer.

70 people.
30 dollars a person for food
1200 on booze. I have a hook up in wine country and at a local mico brewery.
1500 for photo
2000k for venue.

Thankfully I'm not responsible for paying for my wedding. Otherwise I'd be having it at Chuck E Cheese's.

If I had to guess based on what I saw the wedding alone after the cost of reserving the venue, orchestra, food, open bar, cake, etc. it will be around $75,000-$80,000. We are expecting about 125-150 people.

That does not include the rehearsal dinner for 50-70 some odd people or the Sunday brunch for out of town guests, another 50 or so individuals.

I wish her parents would cut us a check instead, go to the court house and get married, then use the money towards a luxury condo downtown.

I am at right around $45k if I am not mistaken and we are inviting around 270 people, expecting anywhere between 210-230.

my gf mom is dead. her father is not well off. So, I get to pay for everyhting.

How the fvck does one know/care enough about people to invite 270 of them to a wedding? I'd imagine 80% of them are otherwise not even remotely in your life at all.

If this is later in life, fine I understand - you've built a portfolio and acquired contacts/"friends".

Its hard for me to imagine a 20/30-something doing the same.

i really don;t want anyone more than clsoe friendsn and family. but my girl feel she need to invite a bunch of people. I feel if I have not been drunk with you, I really don;t know you.
