i work with apprentices who make $14. Theyre now forced to get second jobs because of the difference at the end of the month. sounds like a pretty good reason to complain

why? because their payroll taxes went up to levels where they were previously? full time at $14 an hour they would see a monthly change in income of less than $50. get out of here with that bs.

If a person is earning $14/hr it comes out to about $45/mo less in their pocket.....and that extra $45/mo has only been in their pockets for 2 years, prior to that they didn't have it.

Outside of the prior 2 years we all paid 6.2% of our paychecks to Social Security. In 2011 and 2012 we got a tax break and paid 4.2%. This year, we are back to paying the normal 6.2%. The delta of this is obviously 2%.


Now, if a person is earning $14/hr and working 40 hours per week, they are earning a gross amount per month of $2,240.....2% of which is equal to $44.80. It'll vary a little bit, obviously, but you get the point. I hope.
