apparently the kid had access to his dad's gun. It was beneficial in this case.

That's among the most poorly-written news articles I've ever read. And they usually set a pretty low standard.

I think the reporter must have invested tens of minutes investigating and wordsmithing that story.

Good for that family. Hopefully the kid isn't traumatized from the situation.

For some reason it makes worry about the neighbors getting a few bullet holes in their homes and putting them in danger though. Good to know only the burglars got hit.

I have fired multiple guns, including a shotgun, rifle, and a pistol.

Furthermore, two of my older family members who are still in the army believe that the public should not require anything more than a pistol/hunting rifle/shotgun. No automatic or semi-automatic. Have either of you served?

It's funny that lots of the NRA members have never had anything to do with the military.

What I meant was burst fire. I don't claim to be all knowing regarding guns. Instead, I defer to higher powers with lots of experience using guns, knowing what one needs to defend themselves, what they do not, and the devastating power of guns. These military folks tell me how it should be- and guess what- I believe them! And some things get lost in the translation, as I don't know all that much.

They are more educated than most of you gun toting civilian fools on this very subject.
