It was weird to us as well, as we'd read online that water was OK to bring aboard.

Few things to keep in mind.

-They didn't confiscate the water and had no issues with it...I think they just assumed there was booze hidden in there somewhere.

-This wasn't the only bag with water in it, as we threw a few bottles in each bag....none of which were harassed. This bag contained the bulk of it though, which is why I assumed it to be the cause.

I realize this scenario might be an anomaly, but I figured it is an experience worth sharing, for anyone considering it..... it could happen

The best one I heard was to buy a case of water, flip it over, puncture two small holes with a needle in the bottom of the water bottles and allow it to drain out. Then using a syringe, inject your favorite clear liquour into the bottle. Seal up the hole in the bottom with a dab of super glue (ensure it's cyanoacrylate) and done. The bottles look like they've never been opened. Takes a while to do but you can smuggle a lot in by doing this.

my wife just pulls out the bottles, plants two in the middle, then puts them back in the plastic.

my brother in law ordered some special bottle caps the look sealed.
