New BMW 4 Series F32 Coupe: What do you want to know?

F32 4 series

I'll be at the Detroit Auto Show this coming Monday and Tuesday with up close and personal access to the F32 4 series coupe concept. The F32 4 series is the successor to the E92 3 series coupe, meaning there is no more 3 series coupes after MY 2013.

With this new direction BMW is taking and an entirely new car, what do you want to know? I have interviews scheduled with the 4 series design so design question, pictures of specific things, etc. Post what you're looking for and I'll see what I can do.

Tim

This may not be a good question??

Has BMW made any specific changes to the design of the coupe to improve its performance (versus the sedan) in the IIHS's new small overlap test?

It scored 'acceptable.' I think it can do better since Honda scored top honors with its Accord. However it may be too late in the design cycle to implement those changes.

Certainly not as bad as the Camry though:

Because BMW traditionally had all 2-door cars as even numbers.

6-series, 8-series.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 1-series became the 2-series

There's already a 2-series in final testing

What in the hell were they thinking by changing it to the "4-series" and will the M version be called the M4?

It's not a big deal. The reason is that it is much more different from the sedan than past versions of the car. The coupe is now its own car! I can't believe some of you are irked about it being labeled "4" instead of "3C".

The fender grill, its being called the boomerang from the auto press, how was it considered? Is it functional? Is there a proper name for it within BMW and if not..
can we call it a bimmer-rang(may I get credit)?

If your really so upset about it being called a "4" take off the 4 and put a 3 on instead, or just debadge the car. I think it looks excellent!

I wouldn't drive that ugly thing to a cockfight. And it will have some outrageous name like 435isTT S-Drive fotzenwhizzer Premium. No thanks!

As long as they don't give it a name, like "Passat" or "Isetta". I know these are taken, but you get my point.....
