We can both praise Alden or English makers all we want, but we're still buying the Honda at the end of the day.

Agreed. There's a definite reason why most of AE's gray leather offerings are being had at a steep discount these days. The reason being that they're ugly, lol

For the price I think AE is pretty good....granted I have yet to pay anywhere near full price for any of their shoes, but the point is the same. I have yet to have a negative experience with them.

Ordered a samsonite roller + small bag combo on amazon because it was a gold box lightning deal of the day
Reviews were above 4 stars average so it should be nice [bimmerapp]

They have worked for me for many years without any problems. It's clear that there are better shoes at higher price points, but for me AEs hit the sweet spot for price/quality.

As far as having a boner for them. Yea, I will admit it. Deal with them and compare them up against others in the $300+ range. They have far better construction than your entry level piece of crap glued rubber soled Ferragamos/Gucci/To Boot NY/etc. They can be 100% recrafted for the price of a pair of Kenneth Cole shoes. The leather is definitely better quality than most. And to top it off, their customer service whether in store or over the phone/email, is second to none. AE is a stand up company, which is something that can't be said for many companies out there... |

Ya there are very very few instances where I would even consider gray leather, I have yet to cross even one of those instances lol. Honestly you couldn't pick a worse color for leather. Its flat, colorless, dull... idk... i just don't like it in general, and even worst, I think the red laces they put on some of them on their website is just revolting. At least a navy blue lace would probably make it look a bit more presentable.

So, I'm attending an estate planning conference all week in Orlando. Roughly 3000 attendees, most of which are attorneys and the like. The sheer amount of Tommy Bahama shirts, mandals with socks, and pleated shorts is staggering.

Question for the crew -
Is it appropriate to wear a white pocket square in an interview? Interviewing for the first time in seven years, and determining what my freedom is worth to me (as I'm currently self-employed). Position is for a Mid West & East Coast Finance Manager for an automotive logistics firm. |

Although, to be conservative you should probably not wear it.

That's how many professionals dress all the time out here. I often joke that I'm the best-dressed person in the room because I tucked my shirt in. I work with a lot of professionals who own their own practices, and they always tell me that dressing down is one of the perks of the job. I just smile and don't say anything.

PM sent.
If things were to progress (offer/acceptance), I have a few colleagues in the industry that have already expressed interest in buying my book. Last edited by RenJ; 01-14-2013 at 02:03 PM. |

![]() I'm leaning towards wearing one as it's typically part of my attire. Already going with my conservative ring and watch for the interview. |
