10 speakers in sedan? Thats a lot to replace!

I was wondering how many of you guys upgraded/installed new speakers. The ones I have now sound fine I guess(stock) but I would like to put in an AMP and I'm afraid I might blow them when I do. But anyways...I guess there are 10 speakers in the car, do you have to replace them all and does anyone know what the difference ones are and there locations. Woofer, mid range, tweeter...ect?

If you have the HK system, there's 12 speekers.

I've replaced my speakers in my (non-HK) car...I now have 8 speakers...2 of the original ones are in the stock locations but are not wired up...If you want the full 10 speakers replaced it isn't that hard just talk to you local audio store and ask them what to do...if you want to amplify the the radio you will need new speakers as the stock ones run at a horriblly high resistance.

No one really really replaces the factor speakers drop in for drop in. As a matter of fact I don't think you can find speakers the size of the in door 3 way seperates. The cross overs for the seperates is built into the amp. on standard and HK. The HK has a seperate mini amp for just the two subs in the trunk. There are about three different ways to go on an upgrade (with many variations on these three)

1) Replace amp and speakers and leave factory headunit adapter to get signal for L R R F to new amp
2) Add subs and leave the factory system in place. Tap a signal off rear speakers to aftermarket amp then add subs (Stealthboxes, single 12 inch,
custom sub box etc.)
3) Totally replace head unit, amp speakers with custom I.C.E
