Friendly reminder to promote maintenance. Also you can click on the poll results to see actual votes and not some "anonymous" result How do you like those results? Have fun! (you know who you are)

Oh and my response to Kubica:

I find these kinds of comments funny... especially when anyone has the ability to review your post history.

Lets see... from an extremely brief and shallow review of your recent post history, you (for starters)

1) don't know how to remove a caliper,

2) you refer to our stock wheel fasteners as "lug nuts,"

3) install chinese no name brand axles on your car, and

4) posted a thread looking for a late night mechanic...

Exactly how do you have the nerve to say I give bad advice again? Exactly what contribution have you made for the forum(s)?

PM is stupid. Just wait till your car strands you in the middle of BFE before you worry about it.

Verb

Put forward (someone or something) with approval as being suitable for a particular purpose or role.
Advise or suggest (something) as a course of action.

Synonyms
advise - commend - counsel - suggest

Posters on this forum simply post their Personal Recommendations as answers to questions they have been asked. Utilize your common sense and critical thinking skills before following any of this advice.. Take responsibility for your decisions and don't go blaming other people for "wasting your money" simply because they gave you their advice which is based on personal preference and experience.

It is said time and time again on these forums, these cars are not for everyone... they are expensive and need to be maintained. If you can barely afford the purchase price of the car turn away, because you will be surprised when maintenance intervals arrive and you get the bill.... One thing is for sure, postponing recommended maintenance is always more costly in the end..... just a noob's 2 cents.

My good friend once said that these cars are cheap to maintain but expensive to repair

None taken. That's awesome that you achieved those #s on those parts. It would have probably been similar for me as well using my originals (actually no, my fuel pump at 96k miles when i purchased the car had a 2008 date stamp--it had failed in 2008, it seems), but the reasons I maintain my car are simple and two-fold:

1) to maintain maximum operating performance (factory levels)

2) to prevent a breakdown and possible chain reaction that would affect the operation, performance, or longevity of other related parts.

PM is ok but not to the extreme, use your head and know what need to be replaced and what not, not just replace everything as someone reconmended, it's kind of wasting money.

And our cars only cost few thousand bulks today, and probably cheaper than a same year Honda Accord.

Not sure what a bulk is, but speak for yourself. As my car sits right now, I wouldn't sell it for a penny less than $18,000.

This response was originally drafted for the thread that just closed about Mango blah blah accuracy

I will share it here on this preventative maintenance thread, which equally applies.

To me its about peace of mind with respect to my driving experience, NOT piece of mind as in piecing, and staggering repairs in an a la carte fashion, which generally leads to the all too often scenario albeit, not verbatim:
"man I just replaced my ET last year, and now a year later, I have to go back in, and replace the lower radiator hose...stupid BMW design blah blah"

I truly require the peace of mind that PM reciprocates, because roughly 80% of my driving is done very hard, in the remote canyons in this area.

Of course AAA is a good thing to have, and I see people here use this service as an arguing point against PM, which in most peoples scenarios this may give some leverage in said argument. With roadside assistance you're still going to lose a couple hours out of your day, and most e46f make $100's per hour when they aren't bangin supermodels, some like myself even make $100's whilst bangin supermodels; so time is money.

Roadside assistance is only a phone call away, but again where I enjoy driving my car the most, no cell phone signal is accessible, so what do I do? Preventative Maintenance.

Still think its a waste of money?

Do you truly know what a properly maintained BMW feels like?

Michael.
