Possibly blown head Gasket

Hi Guys,
My name is Ski and i currently reside in Perth, Western Australia.Am pretty sure this thread has been brought up sometime during the life of this forum, I haven't really used the forum much but I am in desperate need of some help and advise.
I bought my E46 03 model almost 2 years ago, had done jus under 100,000 K's been driving well besides the usual tunes up brakes and all that (notin sporty) reason I am writing this post is the other day my car overheated and I opened the expansion tank and found, yes u guessed it a creamy caramel like substance which was a mixture of oil and water, I opened my oil tank and could see smudges of the substance in there too.
From what I have heard this is an extremely costly thing to fix and jus wanted to hear any advise and experiences on how and if this problem can be resolved.
Your input wud be gratefully appreciated.

It'll be cheaper to get a lower km engine and just do an engine transplant? Orr upgrade to the m54b30.. Oh and welcome

Hey jasmit56, jus made a few calls around and yeah it looks like it's cheaper to get a engine transplant, found a 90,000kms for $2300. Might go wit that option.

I wouldn't give up so quickly, by far the most important things is, did you turn the engine off right away? If you did, all it might need is a headgasket job. If mileage is low it may not even needs a valve job.
On the other hand, I don't know how much a used engine cost in your area cost, might about the same expense.
